Benjamin Durham

Benjamin Alexander Durham, 49, of Portland, Ore., passed away peacefully on November 26, 2018,  at the family home, in Morgantown, after a vigorous but short battle with cancer.

He was born October 19, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio,  but spent the 1970’s with his family, in Glasgow, Scotland.  The family moved to Morgantown in 1980, and Ben attended North Elementary, Suncrest Middle and graduated from Morgantown High School in 1987.  He studied at the University of Michigan and lived in Ann Arbor until 1995, when he moved to Portland, Ore.  He was employed as an electrical technician at Eaton Corporation for 22 years and was well loved by his coworkers.

He was a minimalist, known for his unique perspective on life and sense of humor.  He enjoyed the quiet life and liked to go for walks, read, watch Michigan football and Liverpool FC.  He had an encyclopedic knowledge of movies and songs and a quote for every occasion.  He came home every Christmas to spend time with the family and was considerate and thoughtful to all.

Ben is survived by his parents, John and Angela Durham, of Morgantown; his sister, Dr. Emma Durham, of Reading, England; his brother, Nicolas Durham and sister-in-law Linda Tracey, of San Francisco and many aunts, uncles and cousins in England.

The family thanks Compass Oncology and Legacy Health, in Portland,  and WV Caring, in Morgantown, for their kindness, hugs and compassion and Hastings Funeral Home for their assistance.
