MORGANTOWN \u2014 Two Mon Health System hospitals were nationally recognized for\u00a0 care standards and patient safety.\r\nThe Leapfrog Group, a not-for-profit group that collects data about the nation\u2019s hospitals and ranks them, gave its highest \u201cA\u201d grade to Mon Health Medical Center, in Morgantown, and to Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, in Weston, in the group\u2019s Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grade, Mon Health Systems said in a press release.\r\nAccording to Mon Health, the two\u00a0 hospitals were the only ones in north-central West Virginia to earn the \u201cA\u201d grade. Critical access hospitals like Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital are not graded by the Leapfrog Group.\u00a0\u201cReceiving an \u2018A\u2019 from The Leapfrog Group is a testament to the high standards of care and attention to detail the staff at Mon Health provide,\u201d said Mon Health President and CEO David Goldberg. \u201cWhen you walk through our doors, you can feel the difference. We care for people like they are family, delivering the safest and highest quality patient care each and every time.\u201d\r\nThe Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on\u00a0 performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.\r\nDeveloped under the guidance of a National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The results of the Leapfrog\u2019s data gathering are free to the public.\r\n\u201cLeapfrog\u2019s Hospital Safety Grades recognize hospitals like Mon Health Medical Center and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson that focus on advancing patient safety. This ranking provides an important resource for patients, and a benchmark for hospitals, to determine how care at one hospital compares to others in a region,\u201d said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.\r\n\u201cHospitals that earn an A Hospital Safety Grade deserve to be recognized for their efforts in preventing medical harm and errors.\u201d\r\nMon Health Medical Center and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson were two of 855 hospitals across the United States awarded an A in the Fall 2018 update of grades.
