Kathy Vecchio

Kathy Dee Vecchio, 73, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018,  peacefully surrounded by her family at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Mineola, Texas on May 9, 1945, to the late Dee and Kathryn (Stepp) Jarman, and was a long-time resident of Morgantown.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a talented artist excelling at floral design, decorating and painting.  Her favorite pastimes were cooking for her family, studying scripture and making sure her family heard the word of God.  She taught Sunday School at Saint John’s University Parish for ten years.  She was the owner and designer of Flora Bella Flower Shop.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Michael Vecchio Sr.; four children, Michael Vecchio Jr; Michele Musick and son-in-law Mark; Melissa Cyphert and son-in-law Ed; Matthew Vecchio and daughter-in-law Jennifer; 13 grandchildren, Anna Mattern and spouse Blake, Andrew Vecchio and fiance Katie Purnell, Anthony Vecchio and Steph Randall, Joseph Musick, Katie Vecchio and spouse David Stanton, Abigail Cyphert, Edward Cyphert, Samuel Cyphert, Emma Cyphert, Sophia Vecchio, Elizabeth Cyphert, Henry Cyphert, and Giuliana Vecchio; sister-in-law, Patricia Nickler and brother-in-law, Francis; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn (Jarman) Davis; her father, Dee Jarman; her stepfather, Norman Davis; her father-in-law, Andy Vecchio; her mother-in-law, Ann Vecchio; two sisters, Joan Barill and Norma Lisa Ramsey; and her brother-in-law, Patsy Barill.

Family and friends will be received at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9. A Scriptual Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the evening visitation.  Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, until the time of the Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. with Msgr Anthony Cincinnati as Celebrant.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation services will follow, provided by Hastings Funeral Home, Omega Crematory.
