I-79 re-opens after multiple accidents near county line: Update

MARION COUNTY — Two separate accidents near mile marker 139 resulted in significant slowdown Monday afternoon.

The accidents were not believed to be weather-related, according to an investigator with the West Virginia State Police.

The first accident occurred around 2 p.m. A pick-up truck with four people inside lost control of its box trailer, which was hauling tools and equipment.

The driver went off the right side of the ramp southbound, but nobody was hurt.

During the clean-up process, a tractor-trailer also wrecked into the median, with part of the cab in the northbound lane.

Nobody was injured in that accident either. All lanes re-opened shortly after 4:30 p.m.
