University cross-country teams continue hot stretch, sweep TRAC meet

MINERAL WELLS — The University High cross-country teams continue their dominant effort as the championship circuit continues to make its rounds.

The Hawks boys’ and girls’ team won the Two Rivers Athletic Conference titles Tuesday evening, after winning the OVAC titles Saturday.

Zoe Shetty (18:34.6) won the girls’ race for UHS, while Caroline Kirby (18:38.4) finished second. Emma Troischt (19:50) finished fourth, Emma Williams (20:43.1) finished sixth and Hermione Vos (20:56) finished eighth to round out the top 10 finishers for the Hawks.

On the boys’ side, Josh Edwards (16:01.4) finished in first, while teammate Nathaniel Edwards (16:53.2) was right behind him in second. Aidan Palmer (17:09.7) finished fifth, Rocco DeVincent (17:16.4) finished seventh, Jordan Thomas (17:49.5) finished ninth and Ryan Coen (17:52.4) finished 10th.

Morgantown also had a successful day, finishing second in boys and girls.
Lea Hatcher (18:44.3) finished third for the Mohigans girls, while Athena Young (20:50.3) finished seventh, Amelia Haddox (21:00.1) finished ninth and Lauren Hancox (21:32.6) finished 10th to round out the top 10.

For the MHS boys, Jackson Core (16:59.3) finished third, while Mikael Virji (17:07.4) finished fourth and Charles Smith (17:34.5) finished ninth.

Regionals will be at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 at Preston.
