Westover Police investigate robberies at BFS, burglary at Little Caesars

MORGANTOWN — Westover Police are investigating two armed robberies at the Gateway BFS and a burglary at the Gateway Little Caesars Pizza, both on Chaplin Road.
All the incidents happened in about the span of a month.
Investigator S. Hilling said armed robbers hit BFS in the early morning hours of Aug. 21 and 30. The first occurred shortly after midnight and the second about 3 a.m., he said.
There are similarities to the robberies and other factors that point to the same individuals in both cases, Hilling said.
He said than $200 was stolen in the first robbery and about $200 was stolen in the second.
Little Caesars was broken into through a back door on Sept. 30 and the suspect escaped with over $500, Hilling said.
The burglary is not believed to be connected with the robberies.
Hilling said the department has a lot of leads and is being proactive, working with the owners and management of the Gateway to identify weaknesses in security and improve the security.
Westover Police Chief Rick Panico said there is a meeting next week about the issue.
