Harrison County man surrenders in police chase on W.Va. 7

MORGANTOWN — A police chase that started near Goshen Road ended with the suspect surrendering on W.Va. 7, near the Brookhaven intersection.
Kenneth James Lindsey, 33, of Harrison County, is charged with two counts of fleeing with reckless indifference and one count of possession of a stolen vehicle.
Sgt. D. Barger of the West Virginia State Police said there are also multiple misdemeanor traffic violations and drug charges pending against Lindsey, and he had multiple outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.
Barger said the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department reported a stolen silver Audi A4. Troopers responded to a suspicious vehicle call on an abandoned gas well road off of Goshen Road, but Lindsey fled as troopers approached the vehicle.
The vehicle was spotted later in construction traffic on Interstate 79 and after seeing police, Lindsey fled north on I-79 before getting off on Cheat Road, getting on Tyrone Avery Road, then Tyrone Road onto W.Va. 7 before finally stopping and surrendering at the intersection of Brookhaven Road, Barger said.
The incident happened about 2:30 p.m. Sunday and lasted about 30 minutes, Barger said.
Fleeing with reckless indifference is a felony with a sentence of one to five years in prison and a fine of not less than $1,000 and not more than $2,000.
Possession of a stolen vehicle is punishable by one to 10 years in prison, and/or up to a $2,500 fine, or, at the discretion of the court, not more than a year in jail and not more than a $2,500 fine.
Lindsey is being held in North Central Regional Jail, in lieu of $125,000 bond.
