Granville town council donates $200 to youth football team

MORGANTOWN — Granville town council voted to donate to the Westover Rockets youth football team.
Mayor Patricia Lewis quoted a request sent by the head coach of the Westover Rockets, Charles Stevens, that read,“We’re asking if you would consider donating to our team so we can provide our kids with new practice equipment and also provide an end of the season banquet that the kids deserve.”
“It doesn’t designate any specific amount,” said Mayor Patricia Lewis referring to the request.
Ultimately council decided to donate $200 to support the Westover Rockets football team.
The Westover Rockets are a youth football team that’s part of Mountain State Youth Football league. Their teams are made up of kids mainly from the Westover and Granville area.
In other business:
Council made a motion to adopt the second reading of the draft zoning ordinance as the zoning ordinance.
Council voted to accept three appointments toward the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Council approved the certification of the official zoning ordinance map.
Coffee with the Mayor and Police Chief will be held Sept. 18, at Granville Town Hall.
Granville will be hosting a Halloween festival on Oct. 26.
