Black Bears fall 1-0 in 10 innings

GRANVILLE — Bubba Hollins scored on a fielder’s choice in the top of the 10th inning to lead the Batavia Muckdogs to a 1-0 win over the West Virginia Black Bears, in front of 1,049 fans inside Monongalia County Ballpark on Monday.
Hollins scored after he started the inning on second and advanced to third on a groundout.
West Virginia had a runner on third in the bottom of the 10th, but Michael De La Cruz struck out to end the game.
The Muckdogs had three relievers combine to throw seven scoreless innings in the victory. Jameson McGrane (2-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief while Conner Loeprich (1-3) took the loss.
The Black Bears were blanked for the eighth time this season, while the Muckdogs’ staff recorded their second shutout of the year.
