Kingwood Elementary PTA hosting Touch a Truck back-to-school event on Aug. 18

KINGWOOD — Kingwood Elementary PTA is hosting a back-to-school event that combines fun with information about the upcoming school year.
All will be Saturday Aug. 18, and admission is free.
Touch a Truck will be from noon-4 p.m. on Firemen’s Field, across from the school, rain or shine. The Learning in Motion bus will be there, as well as the rock crawler from Boosted Addiction Motorsports, a very special tow truck and other vehicles.
Tours of the school will be from 1-3 p.m.
At 2 p.m. there will be a display of American Judo Hapkido.
Kingwood Elementary mascot Stomper the Stag will be there 1-3 p.m. to greet everyone.
A school supply drive will go on all day. Anyone who donates glue sticks, Clorox wipes or tissues will be entered into a raffle. Prizes include two science kits, four tickets to a West Virginia Black Bears game on Sept. 1, four tickets to a Wild Things game of your choosing for this season, a Black Bears bobble head, and Black Bears baseball cards.
Students and parents will also be able to meet teachers, and there will be family friendly music and face painting.
Food and other vendors will be on hand. Slim’s BBQ, Pyles of Pasta, Rosemary’s Thyme and Hometown Hot Dogs will be serving food throughout the day.
