Black Bears narrowly fall to Muckdogs, 1-0

GRANVILLE — Denis Karas hit a run-scoring single in the fifth inning to give the Batavia Muckdogs a 1-0 win over the West Virginia Black Bears on Tuesday, in front of 1,309 fans inside Monongalia County Ballpark.

Jerar Encarnacion scored on the play after he led off the inning with a single and advanced to third on an error.

Manuel Rodriguez (3-0) got the win with four innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while West Virginia starter Osvaldo Bido (2-5) took the loss in the New York-Penn League game. Zach Wolf pitched two scoreless innings for his third save of the season.

The Black Bears were held off the scoreboard for the seventh time this season.
