Harry Drew

Harry Edwin Drew, 92, of Greensboro, Pa., passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Devine Healing Personal Care Home in Masontown.  Born January 24, 1926, near Point Marion, Pa., he was a son of the late Harry Edward and Laura (Gray) Drew.

A 1944 graduate of Point Marion High School, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII, in both the European and Pacific Theatres.  He was a retired coal miner from Duquesne Light in Greensboro, having worked for more than 43 years.  Harry was a member of the Mapletown United Methodist Church, the U.M.W.A., Local 6310, and a longtime former member of the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his three sons and their wives, Harry A. and Rebecca Drew, of Greensboro, Keith and Susan Drew, of Mapletown, and Gary and Joyce Drew, of Greensboro; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Lincoln, of Point Marion.

Deceased is his first wife, Dorothy Miller Drew; second wife, Betty Barnes Drew; a grandson, Harry; a great-grandson, Michael; and a sister, Mrs. Ed (Delores “Dot”) Chipps.

Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, in Point Marion, from 2 – 4 p.m.  and 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, and from 10 – 11 a.m. on  Monday, July 16, with   the hour of service to follow  with Pastor Nelson Boone officiating.  Interment follows in Monongahela Hill  Cemetery, Greensboro, Pa.
