ELKINS — Morgantown Post 2 rallied from a 4-1 def-icit for a 6-4 lead July 7, but gave up three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and dropped the American Legion baseball game to Elkins, 7-6.
Devon Neal homered and drove in three runs for Post 2 (20-5). Caleb Taylor collected three hits, and Andrew Berry and Clay Maholic two each.
Post 2 starter Evan Smith struggled, giving up four earned runs in 2 1/3 innings. Gavin Cottle relieved and held Elkins scoreless until the bottom of the sixth, when the home team put together its winning rally.
Post 2’s next game is Tuesday, at home, against Fairmont.
