Dodford Law

Dodford Leonard Law, age 88, currently of Morgantown, and formerly of the Charlotte, N.C. area, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018, at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Thaddeus and Cindy Law, following an extended illness.
He was born November 9, 1929, in Welch, a son of the late William and the late Edna (Poe) Law.
He is survived by six children, locally by Thaddeus Leonard Law and his wife Cindy, of Morgantown; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; four siblings; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Grey Stuart Law, and two sisters.
Mr. Law was a member and major supporter of the Rock Hill Baptist Church in Gary,  and also the Northside Baptist Church in Charlotte. He worked for 33 years as a coal miner. In those 33 years, he was proud of the fact that he missed work only twice. Church and family were of the utmost importance to him.
He was known to have coined the phrases, ‘Well, I’ll be John Brown,” and “Granddaddy’s Sweet Baby.”
Mr. Law’s  Home Going Service will be held at the Northside Baptist Church, 333 Jeremiah Blvd., Charlotte, N.C., at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10 officiated by Pastor Steve Good. Interment will follow in the Gethsemane Memorial Park & Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Locally, professional services were provided to the family with the guidance of Smith Funeral & Cremation Care of Morgantown. Arrangements in Charlotte, N.C. are being handled by Robertson Funeral & Cremation Service.
