Terry Ronald Grimes

Terry Ronald Grimes, 78, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018, at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia Inc.
A resident of Jesup, Ga., for the last five years, Terry was born Jan. 17, 1940, in Morgantown, to the late Harley Cecil and Mary Louise McCartney Grimes.
He spent his early years in Morgantown and was a graduate of University High School. In his younger years, Terry enjoyed showing horses and barrel racing and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He was the owner and operator of Grimes Painting for over 25 years and also built houses in his later years. Terry enjoyed his work and always loved what he did. In his spare time, Terry enjoyed watching sports of all kinds but especially loved West Virginia football and Pirates baseball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Terry Ronald Grimes Jr.; his brother, Harley “Spot” Grimes; his sisters, Mary Evelyn Pomeroy, Bettie Friend and Helen Reed; and his favorite mother-in-law, Evelyn Catherine Higgins.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Donna Kay Thompson Grimes, of Jesup; children, Phillip Michael Grimes and wife, Heather, of Bruceton Mills, Cyann Grimes Benoit and husband, Steve, of Morgantown, John Harley Grimes and wife, Pam, of Shady Springs, Ellen Marie Harris and husband, Tim, of Jesup, and Jeffrey Lorant, of Morgantown; grandchildren, Alisa Kay Grimes, of Jesup, Kristen Benoit Miles and husband, Brandon, of Morgantown, Michael Kyler Grimes, of Bruceton Mills, and Lindsey Nicole Grimes, of Shady Springs; great-granddaughters, Brooke and Maddie Miles; and bro-thers and sisters, Barbara Cupelli and husband, Joseph, of Morgantown, Daniel Grimes and wife, Joan “Chris,” and Richard Grimes and wife, Elizabeth, of Wooster, Ohio. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Private services will be held.
