Police close roads due to suicide attempt

MORGANTOWN — Both lanes of traffic on I-68 and the north bound lane of Grafton Road were temporarily closed Sunday evening while emergency responders saved a life.

According to a Morgantown Police press release:

Just before 8 p.m., Sunday, officers responded to the I-68 overpass on Grafton Road for a female sitting on the edge of the overpass threatening to jump. Traffic was shut down for about an hour as a precaution, the release stated.

Officers de-escalated the situation and convinced the woman to step away from the edge. She was taken to medical workers and transported to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital to be evaluated.

The release thanked all emergency responders for their assistance with the successful intervention.
