Lucille Powell

Lucille (Carter) Powell, 91, of Smithtown Community, passed away on June 13, 2018, at John Manchin Sr Health Care Center. She was born on January 19, 1927, the daughter of the late William Add Carter and Ora Ellen (Perkins) Carter, of Fairmont.
She will be remembered for her love of singing, laughing, clogging with her dance group, The Good-Time Cloggers, bingo, and being part of the VFW social family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded  in death by  her husband of 50 years, Donald Earl Powell; son, Donald E. Powell Jr.; sisters, Bonnie Schewchuk, Monnie Satterfield, and Joice Carter; brothers, Carl Carter, Bill Carter, Gary Carter, and Victor Carter and son-in-law, Hu S. Vandervort.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Vandervort, of Fairmont; son, Colby Powell and wife, Sarah “Dee”, of Fairmont;  sisters, Judy Carter and Virginia Wilson, both of Fairmont; grandchildren, Ray “Sonny” Firn and wife, Amber, of Wis.; Donnie Firn and wife, Jennifer, of Morgantown; Renee Eddy and husband, Brian, of Fairmont, Jennifer Frederick and husband, Corey, of Fairmont  and Megan Powell, of Fairmont and  great-grandchildren, Marin Firn, Carson Firn, Rylan Firn, all of Wis., Madison Firn, Sam Firn, both of Morgantown, Isabella Eddy, Austin Eddy, Jacob Frederick and Reagan Frederick and Caleb Powell, all of Fairmont.
Friends and family are invited to call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, in Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. on Friday, June 15 and from 10-11 a.m. on  Saturday, June 16,  with services to follow at Carpenter and Ford, with the Reverend Billy Joe Grandstaff officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah Cemetery.
