Mon Health Medical Center Foundation presents $35,000 in scholarships

MORGANTOWN — The Mon Health Medical Center Foundation presented $35,000 in scholarships Monday to 35 area students pursuing degrees in health care fields at
its 28th Annual Health Career Scholarship Awards Program.
The scholarships are valued at $4,000 each, at $1,000 per year. Selection was based on the application, academic performance and financial need. Each applicant also submitted a letter describing why they selected a specific health career.
The foundation created the Health Career Scholarship program in 1991 to promote healthcare careers in fields with projected worker shortages in the Morgantown area. Since the establishment of the program, the foundation awarded more than $657,000 in Health Career Scholarships. A sub-committee of the foundation’s Board of Directors selected the recipients.
For more information, contact Bill Hennessey, executive director of the Mon Health Medical Center Foundation at 1200 J.D. Anderson Drive, Morgantown, WV, 26505 or call 304-598-1337.
