PARKERSBURG — University High’s Zoe Shetty won the 1600 meters and ran for a first-place relay team, and the Hawks’ girls finished sixth out of 13 teams April 14, in the Russ Parsons Invitational track meet.
Shetty ran 5:32.41 to capture the 1600 title, and teamed with Kendall Ours, Peyton Kukura and Caroline Kirby to take the 4×800, in 10:18.20.
Shetty also finished third in the 800 meters. Ours was fourth in the 200, and Kirby took fourth in the 3200.
The UHS 4×400 relay team of Sydney Antonik, Chloe Mollohan, Ours and Emma Johnson finished third.
Preston came in last in the girls’ meet but took seventh out of 12 teams in the boys’ meet, with UHS ninth. (Parkersburg won both meets.)
The UHS 4×800 relay finished second, with the team of Alex Dean, Nathaniel Edwards, Nicholar Summerlin and Aidan Palmer.
Preston came in third in the 4×800, with Ward Ries, Mauricio Barro, Wyatt Wolfe and Cole Friend.
The Hawks’ Robert Sanders was third in the 100 and fifth in the 200. Dean came in sixth in the 800, and Nicholas Summerlin placed sixth in the 3200.
Ries placed second in the 3200 and Friend was fourth in the 1600.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Morgantown 4, Parkersburg 3; Morgantown 6, Ravenswood 1: PARKERSBURG — The Mohigans (15-1) avenged their only loss this season by beating the Big Reds, despite forfeiting the match at No. 2 doubles. MHS also easily dispatched Ravenswood, and plays host to Wheeling Park on Tuesday.

SOFTBALL
Morgantown 5, Parkersburg South 3; Parkersburg South 6, Morgantown 5: Ally Hawkins pitched the win for the Mohigans in the first game, allowing seven hits, no walks and one earned run. Brianna McKenzie went 3-for-3, Julia Zaph also had three hits and Breanna Rice drove in two runs.
The Patriots won the second game in extra innings. Noell Shreve had a three-hit game for MHS.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE
University 9, Capital 4; University 11, St. Albans 6: CHARLESTON — Jordyn Snider totaled seven goals as the Hawks swept a double-header.
Sophie Armstrong netted five goals and contributed three assists in the wins. Mallory Napolillo tallied three goals and an assist, and Morgan Crocco, Olivia Wills, Sela Chico, Ava Foreman and Emily McCabe each scored once.
UHS goalie Riley Phares made six saves in each game.
Elena Lou had three goals to lead Capital, and Maddie Lopez scored three times to pace St. Albans.
BOYS’ LACROSSE
University 13, Spring Mills 5: Brayden Wilson led the way with four goals as the Hawks (5-0) topped the Cardinals (3-5) at Mylan Pharmaceutivals Stadium.
UHS led, 3-2, after a quarter but took command with five unanswered goals in the second period.
Quinn Napolillo added three scores, Antonio Mascaro two, and Reis Snider, Gavin Yondura, Nate Gibson and Nick Kirchoff one apiece. Gibson contributed three assists, Mascaro two, and Ben McChesney, Jacob Stahl and Kirchoff one each.
Goalie A.J. Adams made 10 saves for UHS, which next plays Monday, at John Marshall.
