Area basketball players see action in OVAC all-star games

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference boys’ and girls’ all-star basketball games were held April 8, at Ohio University Eastern.
Trinity girls’ head coach Mike Baldy led the West Virginia girls’ squad against Ohio, while Trinity boys’ coach John Fowkes led the West Virginia boys’ team.
Area girls on West Virginia included Morgantown’s Aleena McDaniel (2 points) and Aliyssa Neal (8), and Clay-Battelle’s Abbey Ammons (3) and Haley Barr (6). Trinity’s Emily Saurborn was on the team but did not play, recovering from a knee injury.
The girls’ team fell to Ohio, 92-75.
On the boys’ side in a 104-100 West Virginia win, Morgantown’s Drew Selders (4), Trinity’s Jo Zini (10), and University’s Ethan Ridgeway (9) all contributed. UHS’s Austin Forbes was on the team but did not travel because of obligations to the Hawks baseball team.
