Woman accused of distributing heroin near elementary school

CLARKSBURG — A Morgantown woman was indicted this week by a federal grand jury on heroin trafficking charges, United States Attorney Bill Powell announced.

Lori Murphy, 28, was indicted on two counts of distribution of heroin within 1,000 feet of protected location and two counts of distribution of heroin. Murphy is accused of distributing heroin, twice near North Elementary School, in April, July and August of 2017 in Monongalia County.

Murphy faces up to 40 years incarceration and a fine of up to $2,000,000 for each of the counts involving distribution near a school and faces up to 20 years a fine of up to $1,000,000 for the other two distribution counts.
