Teachers unsatisfied with pay raise deal

CHARLESTON — Teachers were back at the Capitol Wednesday morning, loudly expressing discontent with the pay raise deal announced by Gov. Jim Justice Tuesday night.

Standing before the Senate chamber, they chanted “We’re still here!” “We’re not going back!” “A freeze is not a fix!”

They carried signs calling for a permanent PEIA fix and declaring a raise is useless without a fix.

When Senate President Mitch Carmichael emerged for a radio interview, they booed loudly.

Union leaders were not in evidence at the rally.
