WVU Medicine brings new ambulance service to Mon County

MORGANTOWN — WVU Medicine is adding another ambulance service to Monongalia County with stations throughout the area in hopes of increasing care in critical moments.

“What we are trying to do is strategically place these things so that the response times go to as little as possible no matter where someone is in the county,” said Clinton Burley, president and CEO of HealthNet.

Burley said work on creating the ambulance system began over the summer with a review of emergency needs. He said they determined that in Mon County the ambulances — often MonHealth EMS — leave from a central location. WVU Medicine’s plan is to have stations throughout the County that house ambulances, called HealthTeam Critical Care Transport. One is already running and two more should be operational in the next couple of days.

The stations will be at Westover, Cheat Lake, Clinton District and Clay-Battelle.
