MORGANTOWN — Great expectations paid off Feb. 16 as Suncrest Middle eighth graders participated in the English tea party that’s become a favorite tradition at the school.
Becky Haun, an eighth grade gifted teacher at the school, said the English tea party is a great way for the students to learn in a hands-on way about the Victorian era. They had to read Charles Dickens’ famous novel “Great Expectations” recently.
“We’re doing an English tea party,” she said. “This is more or less to experience the etiquette of the Victorian period. We talk about it in class, but you don’t understand it until you get up and walk through this.”
