Masontown man pleaded guilty to DUI that killed driver

KINGWOOD — A Masontown man pleaded guilty Jan. 23 to DUI causing the death of another driver.

Dennis Olaf Spencer Jr., 45, pleaded in Preston Circuit Court. Under the plea agreement, the state will drop charges of third-offense driving on suspended or revoked license, false registration and no proof of insurance.

Police said Spencer’s blood alcohol level was .147 when his car crashed into the back of 47-year-old Wayne Thomas’ Geo Tracker in April 2017. The Tracker was stopped on Guiliani Road. Spencer pulled Thomas from the burning car, but Thomas died the next day at UPMC Hospital.
