MORGANTOWN — Morgantown High School’s Science Bowl team will compete in the 2017 West Virginia Science Bowl regional competition, Dec. 8, at Fairmont State University.

The competition is being sponsored by FSU and the National Energy Technology Laboratory.

“The science bowl is all about testing the amount of knowledge and how quickly they process it,” Joe Melia, chemistry teacher and coach, said.

Teams are made of up five students who compete to answer two types of questions across several categories including chemistry, biology, physics and math, Melia said.

The top three teams from the Dec. 8 qualifying contest will advance to the state competition and from there, the winner will advance to the national bowl in Washington, D.C.
