CHARLESTON — WVU said Nov. 29 that it will assist employees who face overdraft and late fees tied to the Nov. 24 payroll error that led to 11,057 accounts not receiving direct deposits.

Rob Alsop, WVU’s vice president for strategic initiatives, posed that the university and the state treasurer worked with banks to have overdraft charges stemming from the error waived.

In the event that a bank will not waive a fee, the university created a process to assist and reimburse employees for any overdraft charges, late fees or penalties that were incurred, Alsop said.

All employees who weren’t paid Nov. 24 should have received their deposits by Nov. 27, Alsop said. WVU is still investigating the cause of the problem.
