CHARLESTON — After a long, contentious, chaotic March 3, the Senate passed HB 4145, the teacher pay raise bill, with a raise package trimmed from 5 percent to 4 percent based on a Finance Committee amendment.

Just after 10 p.m., the House unanimously refused to concur with the Senate amendment, which will likely send it to conference committee for negotiations.

Union leaders pledged that the Senate’s action means the teacher walkout will continue indefinitely.
