MORGANTOWN — A man reported to work as an Uber driver sexually assaulted a woman in the back of a car, according to an arrest report.

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department charged Ibrahim Hamid, 29, of Morgantown, with second-degree sexual assault. He was arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court on Sept. 18 with bail set at $10,000.

According to his criminal complaint: In April, the female victim reported the assault. She said she was out drinking and woke up feeling different. She said she felt she was drugged.

The victim told officers she usually takes Uber rides around town, but had no record of a trip in the log. She had flashbacks of a man on top of her in the back of a car with an Arabic sounding dialect.

During the investigation, police found a fast-food receipt from that night, that the victim did not remember visiting. Deputies got video surveillance and found a suspected vehicle.

They went to the owner who said Hamid borrowed the car to drive for Uber. Hamid initially denied seeing the victim and picking anyone up on the night in question.

A detective took a DNA sample from Hamid and it matched DNA taken from a sex crime kit from the victim.
