MORGANTOWN — A group of adventurous young girls was on hand over the weekend as the WVU women’s basketball team battled Oklahoma to overtime in a losing effort.

Adventurous Girls is a program of the Monongalia County Starting Points Family Resource Center.

Christine Wallace, program and outreach manager at Starting Points, explained that the program is designed to develop positive relationships, encourage healthy social and emotional development and foster positive behavior.

These goals are accomplished by fostering a safe and open space for discussion; identifying relevant topics around healthy bodies and relationships; offering opportunities for parental involvement and planning quarterly adventures.

The next adventure on the agenda is set for April 15 at the Marilla Community Center. “Mindfulness” will be the focus of the event which will include healthy cooking, yoga and conflict resolution as well as a hike in the park.
