KINGWOOD — A Rowlesburg man was sentenced to 2-10 years in prison July 28, despite assertions that he is trying to kick his drug habit.

John Edward Barrett, 38, pleaded guilty earlier to three counts of delivery of a controlled substance (Subutex), one count of possession with intent to deliver Subutex and one count of conspiracy with intent to deliver. Three other charges were dismissed as part of the plea bargain.

Preston Circuit Judge Lawrance Miller Jr. sentenced Barrett to the maximum of one-to-five years on each count. Three counts will run concurrent. The last two counts will run concurrent as well, but consecutive to the first three.
