Preston man charged with assault and wanton endangerment

KINGWOOD — A Bruceton Mills man is charged with malicious assault and wanton endangerment with a firearm after police allege he shot a woman through the foot.

Robert Alan Rider, 58, was lodged in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail March 19 in lieu of $350,000 bond.

According to the criminal complaint by Preston Deputy First Class W.T. McNair: On March 17, he was dispatched to Cherry Grove Road. There he found a woman lying on the kitchen floor.

Her foot was bleeding. There was a boot with a hole in it and a hole in the floor, and two guns lying on a bench. The woman said Rider pointed a gun at her feet and fired, hitting her.
