KINGWOOD — A Rowlesburg man who police said told them he wanted to shoot deputies and fly an airplane into the Preston County Courthouse faces charges.

Steven Calvin Barrett Jr., 41, was arrested last week on charges of unlawful restraint, obstructing an officer, domestic assault and domestic battery. Police said he held his wife against her will.

Two charges were added: Making terroristic threats and intimidation of a public employee or officer. He was in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on Dec. 2 in lieu of $110,000 bond.

According to the criminal complaint by Deputy R.A. Stockett Jr.: While being arrested on the domestic charges, Barrett said he wanted to fly an airplane into the courthouse and have a “shoot-out” with deputies. If he’d had a gun when arrested, he would have shot them then.

Barrett said he was going to come to the deputy’s home and shoot him. He also threatened the officer’s family.
