KINGWOOD — Sheriff Dan Loughrie says in a response to the Preston County Commission he doesn’t have the manpower to deliver all the civil writs of execution the office receives.

Last month Donald Shrout told commissioners he obtained a judgment in Preston Magistrate Court against a woman. He paid the $30 fee in January 2017 to have the sheriff’s department serve the writ of execution.

The writ allows officers to tag property of the person against whom the judgment was obtained. If the judgment isn’t paid, the property is sold to satisfy the debt.
