KINGWOOD — County commissioners voted July 17 to hire a new dog warden for the Preston County Animal Shelter.

Cameron Radabaugh, a dog warden in Monongalia County, was hired to replace Brittaney Shearer, who served as director/dog warden.

Shearer was suspended and later resigned after being arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge for an incident involving her 11-year-old daughter. The misdemeanor charge was dropped in June, and Shearer was re-charged with a felony offense — child abuse resulting in injury. That charge is still pending.

County Administrator Kathy Mace will continue to serve as shelter director.
