MORGANTOWN — The first of two public hearings on the 2018-2019 academic calendar was held as part of the Feb. 27 regular Monongalia County Board of Education meeting.

Superintendent Frank Devono suggested a starting date of August 16 for staff and August 21 for students, which sent a wave of applause through the crowd – many of them students about to be recognized for their achievements and their parents. School would end around May 20 on the proposed calendar.
