MORGANTOWN— Schools in Monongalia and Preston counties are among those benefiting from numerous education grants to West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Recently, Chevron and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation recently awarded $196,200 worth of Innovation Grants to fund various projects in 43 classrooms throughout the two states. These projects cover a wide variety of subjects from agriculture to digital design.

Monongalia County Schools received about $32,000 of grant funding for seven projects while Preston County Schools got just under $8,000 for two projects.

Monongalia County Schools Assistant Superintendent Donna Talerico said each project was devised by school staff who then sought out funding when the opportunity became available.
