MORGANTOWN — School buses were back on the road March 7 in Morgantown and Monongalia County.

Schools in West Virginia were back in session after a nine-day walkout by teachers and service personnel over salaries and other issues.

Happiness ensued Wednesday morning at Clay-Battelle High School, Principal David Cottrell said.

“Lots of smiling faces,” he said.

Cottrell was set to meet later that morning with the school’s senior class.

“We’re gonna have to maximize every minute from here on out,” he said.

There was no official word March 7 about makeup days in Monongalia County.
