MORGANTOWN — And just like that, Samantha Little was a teacher again.

She settled into a seat at Atomic Grill, cracked open a kids’ book, and began reading aloud to a handful of youngsters who were also spending their morning of March 6 the eatery on Green Bag Road.

Little and other teachers at nearby Mountainview Elementary School read aloud to their at the restaurant as the statewide teachers strike entered its ninth day.

With an agreement forged, classes in Monongalia County will now be back in session March 7.

Monongalia County Schools Superintendent Frank Devono said normal school hours will commence.

“We’re excited to get going,” he said.

“Our cafeterias are set up and ready to serve breakfast and lunch. Our teachers and service personnel are anxious to have our students back.”

He said he’ll confer with administrators and board members this week on how to make up the days missed during the strike.

“No decisions have been established yet,” he said. “That’s something we’ll need to work through.”
