CHARLESTON — Leaders of the two state teachers’ unions announced the afternoon of Feb. 23 that the statewide teacher and service personnel work stoppage will continue on Feb. 26. They said all 55 county locals authorized the stoppage.

They also said that knowing in advance their school staff will not be there Feb. 26, it will be up to the superintendents to decide whether to close the schools again, as they did Feb. 22 and 23.

Teachers expressed dissatisfaction with the pay raise bill signed by the governor. They also want a seat at the table for a task force to work out a long-term PEIA fix, and remained concerned about a couple other bills that they oppose and are not yet officially dead.
