Shuler, Isreal leave WVU football team

MORGANTOWN — Two players announced Feb. 21 they are leaving the WVU football program.

Defensive end Adam Shuler II and quarterback David Isreal were no longer listed on the official WVU roster.

In a tweet, Shuler said, “After many thoughts and prayers I have decided after the spring semester, transfer from West Virginia University. I want to thank all the people who helped me get where I am today and Mountaineer Nation for supporting me in my time her in Morgantown! Me and my family feel it’s best for my future to make this decision. I have permission to contact other schools and will move forward for there thank you!”

Shuler was a key contributor along the defense line last season. Rotating with Ezekiel Rose, Shuler had 37 tackles, including eight for loss and three sacks as a sophomore.

Isreal, who” came to WVU last summer out of Butler Community College (Kansas), redshirted last season. He also took to Twitter on Feb. 21.

“First off I would like to thank West Virginia for everything, my time here has been truly amazing and enjoyable. After much prayer and discussing things with my family, we have decided its in my best interest for me to finish my academic and athletic career elsewhere after this semester.”
