MARTINS FERRY, Ohio — Some stellar defense led the Morgantown High boys’ basketball team to its seventh consecutive win.

The Mohigans held Martins Ferry to just two points in the second quarter and seven field goals for the game in a 52-21 victory on Feb. 16.

Drew Selders and Alexander Rudy led the Mohigans (14-7) with nine points each, while teammate Lamar Haskins added eight points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists.

MHS will host Martinsburg, at 6:30 p.m. Monday for Senior Night.

MORGANTOWN — University’s final chance at a game-tying or winning shot never happened, as the Rams held on.

Trailing by two points with 13 seconds remaining, University had its final possession knocked loose and was unable to regain control before time expired.

Zoe Murphy led the Hawks (9-13) with 15 points.

UHS will travle to Morgantown High, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, for the first round of the sectional tournament.
