MORGANTOWN — WELLWVU hosted a “Bartender School” event Thursday evening, at Honors Hall, as a way to educate students about the dangers of alcohol overconsumption.

Sarah Young, a volunteer at the event, said, “What we’re trying to do is just teach them how to drink safely if they choose to drink. We’re not encouraging it by any means, but we want them to be safe if they do choose that on their own time.”

By spreading awareness, volunteers were able to take preventative measures to make sure students know correct serving sizes in different types of drinks.

“I feel like this also helps students learn more because it’s more interactive, and it’s also coming from two students instead of the university telling them that they have to do AlcoholEdu,” WELLWVU volunteer Angela Barns said.

WELLWVU will continue to host events throughout the semester to cultivate a stronger understanding of pers-onal well-being.
