CHARLESTON — The state saw its fourth positive month of revenue figures, Revenue Secretary Dave Hardy told members of the press Wednesday afternoon.

“The governor thinks the financial health of our state is good,” he said. “Everything is going well.”

Two hopefully unique glitches — lower than expected severance tax collections and higher than expected corporate net income tax refunds — put overall collections at $25 million below estimates, he said, which serve as a reminder to manage resources carefully even when things are going well.

The good news that we have here for today is that for the fourth month in a row we are at 99 percent-plus of our projected revenues,” he said. With just five months left in fiscal year 2018, the budget looks to be on target to finish where it needs to be.
