KINGWOOD – Who doesn't love soup beans and cornbread? Especially when you can enjoy a delicious meal and help others while doing so.

For their service project, four AmeriCorps members are hosting a soup beans and cornbread dinner 5-7 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Arthurdale Heritage Center Hall, on W.Va. 92 south of Reedsville. Proceeds will benefit the Food for Preston backpack program.

The backpack program bridges the weekend food gap for children in need, according to Tammy Laney coordinator of Food for Preston. Currently 324 students of all grades are enrolled in the program through the Preston County Schools Homeless Youth Program.
