KINGWOOD — A committee is forming to begin planning for the June 2018 Preston County bicentennial celebration.

Preston was formed from Monongalia County by order of the Virginia Assembly Jan. 19, 1818.

Preliminary plans are to have a small ceremony Jan. 19, 2018, the actual day of the anniversary, and a larger one in June, around West Virginia Day.

Anyone interested in helping with planning the Preston County bicentennial celebration can call the county commission at 304-329-1805.

The committee will meet 6 p.m. Jan. 10 at the courthouse annex.
