KINGWOOD — A Preston County man wanted by police in West Virginia and Pennsylvania surrendered to police Dec. 4.

Virgil Lee Hall, 44, of Bruceton Mills, is accused of kidnapping a woman from her Bruceton area home and taking her to Wharton Township, Pa., in November. There he allegedly assaulted her in a cornfield, then dragged her back across the state line by her hair after his vehicle became stuck.

Hall was in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on Dec. 5.

In West Virginia, he faces charges of attempted murder, strangulation, malicious wounding and kidnapping. Pennsylvania authorities also plan to charge him.
