WVU women’s basketball team No. 10 in AP poll

MORGANTOWN — The WVU women’s basketball team (7-0) moved up one spot to No. 10 in the Associated Press top 25 poll, released Dec. 4.

he USA Today Sports Coaches’ top 25 poll comes out Dec. 5. The Mountaineers were 12th in those rankings last week.

WVU earned 482 points in the AP poll and is one of three Big 12 teams in it. No. 2 Texas leads the way, with 749 points, while No. 8 Baylor earned 606 points. Oklahoma State (8) and Oklahoma (6) received votes.

Behind 24 points from senior forward Teana Muldrow, WVU claimed a 70-56 win over then-No. 18 Texas A&M, in College Station, Texas, on Dec. 3.

Muldrow was named WVU’s student-athlete of the week Dec. 4.

Senior forward Kristina King recorded her first double-double of the season, with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while senior guard Chania Ray scored 16 points and junior guard Katrina Pardee 10.

The nonconference road win over a top-25 team was WVU’s first since 2013.

The Mountaineers return to action as they host rival Pitt, at 7 p.m. Dec. 7, and welcome Coppin State, at 2 p.m. Dec. 10.
