MORGANTOWN — WVU begins its indoor track and field season Dec. 2, with the Marty Pushkin Track Classic, at the Shell Building.

Field competition begins at 9 a.m., running at 10 a.m.. Joining WVU are Alderson Broaddus, Bethany, Charleston, Frostburg State, Salem International, Thiel, Washington and Jefferson, Waynesburg, Westminster (Pa.), Wheeling Jesuit and the WVU Track Club.

Admission is free.

“This is an exciting time for track and field,” said WVU coach Sean Cleary, who has 21 returnees and eight newcomers on his roster. “The track-specific athletes have been training hard since August and have the opportunity to finally compete. We have a large number of schools attending the meet, so the Shell should be packed, providing a great atmosphere. We are anxious to see how fall training equates to actual performance.”

The field events include the weight throw, shot put, pole vault, long jump, triple jump and high jump.

Races include the 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, 400 meters, 500 meters, 800 meters,
1-mile run, 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters and 4x400-meter relay.

The Dec. 2 home meet is one of two for the Mountaineers this season.
