GRANVILLE — University Town Centre will soon have security cameras installed at the intersection where Target and Giant Eagle are located and along Interstate 79.

The cameras will be used to monitor traffic going in and out of the shopping center.

During the Granville Town Council meeting on Nov. 28, council members agreed to proceed with the camera installation.

“We’ve been trying to get cameras at the town center for the past two or three years,” Granville Police Chief Craig Corkrean said. “When we’re responding to shoplifting, sometimes when we get there, the people have already gone. We’ve tried to put some kind of camera system in place where we can go back and try to get plates and vehicle descriptions.”
